How does my child join Dance Etc.’s Competition Team Program?
- Complete our New Team Member Audition Application. This no-obligation application lets us know what your dancer/tumbler is interested in! It does not commit you to anything, but lets us know that you’d like information about auditions.
- Join us for FREE Team Preview Classes (April 25 – May 2)! Your dancer can join us in our team technique classes to get a feel for how those classes run and what they can expect. When attending a preview class, please arrive with hair pulled back, appropriate dance attire, and ballet or jazz shoes (or clean sneakers for hip hop). Please note that most classes are just down the street at our Annex location (5991 Meijer Drive, Enter Suite 17).
- Attend an informational meeting to learn more about our Competition Teams and how the process works. These meetings will take place on these days/times (no RSVP required):
- Friday, April 24, 2026 @ 6:00pm (Main)
- Saturday, May 2, 2026 @ 1:00pm (Main)
- Attend Team Auditions (May 15-17, 2026). Your dancer will NOT have to be present all 3 days of Auditions, the full schedule will be released closer to Audition weekend. The primary objective of our Team Auditions is to assess the skill level of all dancers and put together the perfect teams! We conduct our auditions just like our fun classes, making it as stress-free as possible for everyone involved. (Prospective team members will usually only need to attend a short 1-2 hour audition).

We pride ourselves on delivering age-appropriate choreography for all ages of children, and believe in building a safe, strong foundation in dance. We also offer unique kinds of teams that some other programs don’t, such as Ballet Teams and Boys Only Teams. We believe that every child should be able to do what they love at Dance Etc.!
Why should my child join Dance Etc.'s Competition Teams?
First of all – it’s FUN! Additionally, some students want a little more challenge or want to dance/tumble more than just once a week. In competition teams, students work on steps weekly until mastered. Also, attendance is more important and, at times, mandatory. Additionally, teamwork encourages strong social contacts/friendships, which can last a lifetime. And watching a routine come together throughout the year is an exciting process.
